Coach Jose's soccer philosophy

Jose Lopez' philosophy of coaching

One of the top coaches in the state of Michigan shares his vision

After 12 years of coaching kids, I am still learning everyday the importance of the coach as a “Role model figure” to your children, and it is my intent to continue to do so. My general coaching philosophy is to be a facilitator, that is to push players closer to their potential, not necessarily to be professional players. Moreover, I stress the fact that academics count, and support them. All of my life I have been able to balance school and soccer and I think that is a reason that today I am still coaching soccer and have not burned out yet

U-14 Boys

LSC 1 vs. Okemos 0

Great victory for the boys, parents, coach and those of us who have been around our club for a long time. Okemos and us have had some great soccer battles through out the years. Coach Derek is very proud of the whole team from Charlie the goalie to Kevin who scored the goal to Noah the defender. Coach Derek  was very impressed with the conditioning of our boys. Good job boys, our  high schools will be very fortunate and glad  to have players like you.

U-9 Boys

 LSC 2 vs. Okemos 2

Our boys played well, specially in the second half after being down 0-2. The Okemos team had boys which were of much bigger size, our players are learning to play against these type of teams. The game might have to be play again due to the fact that there were no official referees at the game.

U-10 Girls

LSC 6 vs. CASL Magic 0

iI was a good game for our girls to practice passing, passing and more passing.  The field was not in great conditions so our girls learned the importance of getting infront of the ball first. Coach is very happy with the way the girls go and win the loose balls.

U-11 Girls

LSC 6 vs.  Eaton Rapids 0

Coach Bill was very happy with the performance of the team, Krystin Lynch did an excellent job. The girls passed the ball around and  are continuing to improve.

U-11 Boys

LSC 1 vs. Mason 3

Coach Omar was very happy with the goaltending, the team gave a good effort but some players need to release the ball a little bit quicker. The boys will play Mason on Sunday so we hope they learned from this game. Good team chemistry.

U-11 Boys

Second game   LSC 4vs. Mason 6

Good effort, too many goals to overcome. Coach Omar will continue to make the team reach its potential.

U-12 Boys

LSC 1 vs. Mason 5

The boys played most of the game on the opponents side of the field but had a difficult time finishing plays. Coach Derek liked the effort but we need to do more work, Coach Derek will not be at practice this week  but coach Keck will train players.  I hope to see good attendance at practice.

U-14 Boys

LSC 9 vs. Mason 1

Great game for the players and coach to practice new plays, different positions  and feel comfortable with them during the game. Coach Derek wants to make sure players stay on task and show good sportsmanship when ahead by several goals. Good luck on Monday against a very good Okemos team.

U-14 Boys, Michigan Champions League

LSC 0 vs. GR Alliance 3

This was a great experience for our players, we played a team loaded with talent. These types of battles are  going to make our players  someday very good high school soccer players. Every ball was a fight. Mike Shaw stopped a penalty shot and coach Jose praised our team captain Zach Piotrowski  for his full out effort and his communication with his teammates. It was very enjoyable for the fans to be able to watch  a game at such a high level of skill  The Alliance have already played the Stingers and have beaten them 9 to 0. good job boys..
